Director of Education
Gerald Hefferman is an industrial designer and medical student at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in 2009, Gerry worked as an industrial and exhibit designer at Thinc Design in New York City. While at Thinc, Gerry worked on a number of large-scale design projects, including the National September 11th Memorial Museum in New York, NY; the Discovery Park of America science center in Union City, TN; and the 2009 and 2010 TED Conferences in Long Beach, CA.
Gerry believes strongly that the cycle of broad-based thinking, prototyping, and testing that lies at the foundation of the design process has tremendous value when applied to the unique challenges faced by clinicians at the bedside. By helping future designers and physicians work together on challenging projects early in their careers, Gerry hopes to pass this ethos on to the next generation of Brown Med and RISD graduates.
